At long last, an untethered
jailbreak for all iPhones, iPads, and iPods running iOS 7 is available
to download. Early reports suggest that the Evasi0n7 jailbreak, released
by the Evad3rs group, works flawlessly — but for now, we cannot
recommend that you install it. There is a lot of controversy surrounding
both the development and release of this first iOS 7 jailbreak, and an
internal source at Evad3rs tells ExtremeTech that the jailbreak contains
“Chinese malware” — a prominent placement that reportedly netted a
“high six figure” payment for the Evad3rs. Furthermore, with iOS 7.1 due
to land any day now, there is concern that the Evasi0n jailbreak gives
up the zero-day vulnerability too soon, allowing Apple to quickly plug
the hole.
